From Ideas to Prototypes to Series Production

Our in-house electronics production continues to gain in importance. Accordingly, our portfolio of products manufactured in house is expanding at an increasing rate. We have focused on the production of electronics for avalanche photodiodes and pulsed laser diodes which allow for the easy application of these components by the customer.
In addition to single piece production, products that ensure the uncomplicated use of avalanche diodes, cw and pulsed laser diodes are also produced in series in Olching. The production of electronics began in 2006. The demand for electronics increased to such an extent up until the end of last year that our production capacity had to be expanded. In addition to the increase in space, we also extended our laboratory equipment. Next to the CAD work stations and a CAD-controlled PCB mill, extensive testing equipment is also available for the manufactured components and prototypes to undergo thorough testing.
Customer-specific Products Our customers often do not have the ability to develop electronics according to their specific needs. For this reason, we offer customer-specific development as one of our many services. All you have to do is provide us with the specifications of the desired electronics and our development engineers will create a computer-aided design to control the PCB mill when building a prototype. In new product developments, the mounting of electronic components is controlled manually. Series production (i.e., if desired) may only begin after extensive testing of the component has been completed. Thanks to our in-house production facilities, the time required to get from an idea to the finished product is significantly reduced.
Electronics for Avalanche Photodiodes – APDs Both high-voltage modules and complete APD modules are produced for use with avalanche photodiodes. In the APD modules, the high-voltage supply is already integrated. They may, therefore, be used directly and only require a 5-12 V supply. Electronics for Pulsed Laser Diodes – PLDs For optimal performance in high-power and pulsed laser diodes suitable drive electronics are required.
Pulsed Laser Modules PLDs are commonly used in distance and speed measurements according to the time-of-flight principle. For these types of measurements the component has to be used at peak power levels of up to 200 W, which requires currents of up to 50 A.
Not every developer is familiar with generating such currents and voltages. Pulsed laser modules were, therefore, developed to ensure safe and reliable operation as well as providing an optimal mix of pulse power, pulse length, and repetition rate – and all at the smallest dimensions.
The LC-series and LS-series plug & play pulsed laser diode modules produce a defined laser pulse of up to more than 200 W by applying a 5-12 V operating voltage and a trigger signal. The modules are either available with fixed parameters or freely adjustable. The pulse power, pulse length, and repetition rate may be modified.
Through this flexible range of modification options, the scope of design of equipment parameters has multiplied. Certain adjustments may even be made during operation! The variable LS-series modules are preferred during the development and testing phases of systems. Without extra cost, it is possible to find the optimum in a wide range of pulse duration and peak power with a single component. For the OEM market, inexpensive circuits can then be produced as a complete module or as a PCB to be integrated into the system.
Optimal Electronics Our standard modules make it possible for the customer to immediately implement powerful pulsed laser diodes or very sensitive avalanche photodiodes. If they have to be modified, the first prototypes can be delivered within two weeks of CAD approval. Series production will follow in cooperation with qualified OEM assembly houses and requires a lead time that depends on the time it takes to procure the components.
