UV LEDs are light sources that are increasingly being used to replace conventional UV lamps in curing, authentication, and sterilization. Inexpensive UV LEDs have the advantage that they are compact and have a stable power output at low energy consumption. In addition, they are ready for immediate operation and easy to control.
The fields of application vary depending on the wavelength of the UV LED: UVA (315-400 nm) is used in industrial UV curing, the printing industry, illumination applications, the recognition of counterfeit money, safety technology, hygienization, and in special illumination applications.
UVB (280-315 nm) is primarily used in medical technology. UVC (200-280 nm) is used in the sterilization of water and in combating odors.
Our exclusive partner LG Innotek delivers powerful UV LEDs in the range from 278 nm to 405 nm as a chip or in an SMD housing.
One highlight is the 365 nm LED LEUV-A66M20RV00 with an optical output power of 520 mW @ 500 mA from a single chip, assembled in a 6 x 6 mm² SMD housing.
The version with four integrated chips (LEUV-A77V20RV00) and an output power of up to 2100 mW @ 500 mA fits into a 6.8 x 6.8 mm² SMD. Versions with an identical design at 385 nm and 395 nm produce an output power of more than 3 W @ 500 mA.
