Optical Fiber Attenuation Measurement Devices

Measure Insertion Loss efficiently for single or dual wavelength requirements.

Benchtop devices used in the measurement of insertion loss and rack mount systems used in the bidirectional measurement of insertion loss: these devices contain a light source and a power meter.

Optotest’s benchtop devices used in attenuation measurements are compact, fast, and reliable. Rack mount devices are somewhat larger and are available as bidirectional and multi-channel devices.

Insertion loss is measured using two devices: a stabilized laser source and a suitable power meter. These elements are integrated into both benchtop devices and rack mount versions.

The OP815 helps you qualify Singlemode and Multimode fibers by providing reliable insertion loss (IL) measurement. Its built-in, stabilized LASER or LED source is combined with a high precision optical power meter and supports quick measurement in less than a second. Like all other OptoTest devices, the OP815 features a USB interface and may be equipped with different detectors for several multifiber and multi-ferrule connectors.

The corresponding duplex variant OP815-D is equipped with dual light source output and two detectors. It provides fast and efficient measurements of duplex cables in one test procedure, which makes it an ideal solution for fast and efficient work in cable assembly.

The OP831 is your choice for quick bidirectional insertion loss (IL) measurements on simplex patch cables thanks to its integrated 2×2 switch. The OPL-PRO application software allows for a fully automated bi-directional IL analysis of the connected cable. Perfect for cost-efficient manufacturing.

The OP850 is a highly efficient solution insertion loss (IL) measurement on multiple fiber cables or ribbon cables with MTP or MXC components. To achieve precision measurement as fast as possible, the system uses both single mode (SM) or multimode (MM) continuous wave (cw) laser sources in combination highly repeatable optical switches. You may test four to 24 separate channels, each with its own customized wavelength. The easy-to-use OPL-MAX Software allows for thorough documentation of all the results.
