The S-RHIS integrating sphere is a special measuring head used for repeatable measurement of optical output power; it is especially suited for bare fibers or multifiber connectors.

The S-RHIS remote measuring head is used in Optotest’s OP8xx and OP9xx series meters. The advantage: The calibration tables are integrated in the measuring head; therefore, it can be operated with different devices.
Due to the inner coating, the input light is equally distributed on the inner integrating sphere regardless of the angle of incidence, and then measured. Thus, it is especially suited for measurements at bare fiber outputs and in connectors with multiple fibers, such as, for example, MT-RJ, MTP, or MPO. Interchangeable adapters are available for all standard connector types.

The RHIS is available in different configurations:

• One or two optical interfaces
• Designs with InGaAs or Si detectors to cover a wide wavelength range
