853 Many non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) gas analysers rely upon narrow band-pass (NBP) filters within the mid infrared (MIR) spectral region. Combining detector technologies such as lead salt (1-5 µm), thermopile or pyroelectric (UV-FIR when using suitable absorbers) with MIR NBP optical filters the result is a relatively cheap but accurate sensor for detecting a range of gasses. These include CO, CO2, HC, SO2, H2S, NH4, and so on.
