960 Among the many benefits of LiNb03 modulators is their capability to operate in multiple optical bands thanks to the broad transparency of LiNb03. As fibre lasers are appearing on the market to serve the 2.0 µm wavelength region, external modulators for this spectral band will soon be necessary.
Photline is conducting 2 µm R&D works on that subject with the objective to offer commercial products in 2009, so as to complement an already comprehensive modulator family that covers the 800 nm, 1060 nm, 1300 nm and 550 nm wavelength regions.
