The MXIQ-LN-40 optical modulator is a high bandwidth, low insertion loss dual parallel Mach-Zehnder modulator.

We are now very pleased to announce the improved specifications of the new version of the Photline MXIQ-LN-40. Several of the specifications have been improved, particularly the Vπ, which has been reduced significantly:

1. Vπ RF is now 4.7 V typical, which compared to the previous 5.7 V is a 17% improvement!
2. Vπ DC1 & DC2 are now 4.7 V, which compared to the previous 7 V is a 33% improvement!
3. Vπ DC3 is now 9 V, which compared to the previous 17 V is a 47% improvement!

Please note that the Vπ reduction has been obtained partly due to changes to the common RF and DC electrodes. Therefore, a DC Block may be required at the RF1/RF2 Inputs to avoid DC voltages coming out from V_bias DC1/DC2.

The RF drivers connected to the RF inputs of the new MXIQ must have DC blocks in order to not be damaged by the DC bias voltages. All our compatible RF drivers feature a DC block at the output and can be safely used with the new MXIQ, so these drivers are ideal recommendations for this modulator.
