InAs 1 - 4 µm
Contrary to the photoconductive detector materials often used in this wavelength range (PbS, PbSe, and HgCdTe), InAs is photovoltaic and does not require an operating voltage.
J12 detectors are high quality InAs photodiodes for the wavelength range from 1 – 4 µm. They are used in IR spectroscopy.
Advantages of InAs:
Contrary to the photoconductive materials often used in this wavelength range (PbS, PbSe, and HgCdTe), InAs is photovoltaic and does not need an operating voltage. This is an advantage for DC and low frequency applications because the "1/f" noise does not occur.
