POF Fibers and Cables
Used for designer lighting or signal transmission
Apart from applications such as designer lighting polymer optical fibers (POF) are also used for signal transmission. Bus systems like SERIOS for industrial measurements or MOST for networks inside cars implement POF. The fibers are available with different core diameters and can be delivered with or without cladding.
Even at constant temperatures of 115°C your data packets will not break a sweat when transmitted by plastic fibers of TORAY's PHK series. The heat resistant material of the fiber ensures a reliable protection from overheating. The proven PMMA fiber (polymethyl methacrylate) has a numerical aperture of 0.54 and as a standard cable a core diameter of 1.0 mm and a cladding diameter of 2.2 mm. Custom solutions such as different fiber diameters and fiber bundles are also available. LASER COMPONENTS offers an assembly service for all plastic fibers. SMA, ST®, TOSLINK, and Versatile Link-compatible connectors are standard, just like for the 200/230 µm HCS® fiber.
