Monocrystalline fibres for use in Er:YAG laser transmission and chemically aggressive environments.
Sapphire is almost chemically neutral. Its melting point is above 2,000°C. These properties make crystals the preferred material for fibres used in chemically aggressive environments. It is also ideally suited for the transmission of Er:YAG lasers.
We supply sapphire fibres that have been grown from a single crystal using the edge-defined film-fed growth (EFG) process. This process retains the outstanding material properties of sapphire. At the same time, the fibre still offers the desired flexibility. The fibres are available in lengths of up to 2 m and with diametres of 100, 250, 325, and 425 μm.
