Silicon-Differential and Quadrant Diodes
Thanks to the small areas of the individual segments differential diodes are well suited for high resolution and fast position measurements.
PSD
Differential diodes consist of two, quadrant diodes of four individual photodiode segments which are separated by only a very small gap of just several tens of μm.
Applications
Thanks to the small areas of the individual segments differential diodes are well suited for high resolution and fast position measurements along an axis, quadrant diodes along two axes. The position measurement is achieved by the comparison of the photocurrents of each photodiode segment.
