Doped and Photosensitive Fibers
The behavior of fibers can be greatly affected by doping with laser-active elements such as germanium, boron, erbium, ytterbium, and neodymium. The result is a wide range of special fibers for various applications. The spectrum ranges from photosensitive fibers for the series production of fiber Bragg gratings to double-jacketed fiber optics and “entry-level fibers” with low laser threshold values.
