Pumped Fibers

Pump fibers are required for axially pumping solid-state lasers. The light from laser diodes is coupled into the fiber at one end and focused onto a laser rod at the other end. All-silica double-clad fibers with a doped core and an initial cladding of pure quartz glass are particularly well suited for this purpose.

Pump Fibers

Passive all-silica double-clad fibers for pumping solid-state lasers – with various, application-specific dopants.

Passive double-clad fibers made of pure quartz glass are primarily used as pump fibers. Depending on doping, core diameter, and numerical aperture, they are suitable for various applications.

The SMM900 combines the properties of single-mode (SM) and multimode (MM) fibers in a multimode design. In the passive double-clad fiber, the SM germanium-doped quartz glass core is surrounded by a silica cladding through which the pump beam is transported. The outer cladding made of fluorinated silica eliminates the need for a polymer coating with a low refractive index. The fiber can be processed like a standard telecom fiber but is considerably more resistant.

At wavelengths of 1060 nm and 1050 nm, passive double-clad fibers with a low refractive index can be used for fiber lasers, pump combiners, amplifiers, and sensor applications, for example.

For a wavelength of 1060 nm, DC1060(10/125)0.08HD offers high non-linear thresholds with a core diameter of 10 µm and a numerical aperture of 0.08, as well as significant power control advantages.

DC1500(6/125)0.21HD and DC1500(11/125)0.12HD fibers and erbium/ytterbium-doped fiber amplifier make it possible to produce highly effective high-performance amplifiers at 1050 nm.

All fibers are surrounded by a fluorinated acrylic cladding with a low refractive index. Attenuation characteristics and mechanical resilience meet all Telcordia 85°C/85% moisture test criteria.
