This Generates a Thin Beam

Both people and laser beams favor a small waist; however, its absence – or even just a small shift – can have a grave effect on the application of high-power lasers. Therefore, it is important to monitor the beam shape continually.

The BWA-MON™ from Haas Laser Technologies makes this possible; it determines important parameters, such as beam waist, beam size, M², and thermal lens, via a sample beam. At 50 Hz, the measurement principle is very fast, making several measurements per second possible. Real-time monitoring of the beam characteristics makes it possible to intervene actively to prevent deviations.
