The combiner manufacturing system by 3SAE combines two units in one

Taper, cleave, bundle, splice: the CMS can do it all.
The combiner manufacturing system by 3SAE is used to process optical fibers with a high reproducibility in the laboratory. Two very special functions have been combined for the first time in this unit – that of the modularly constructed LDS system and that of the specialized TMS system. LDS is short for large-diameter splicing system and is a splicer for fibers with large diameters; TMS stands for taper manufacturing station.

Production of Complex Optical Fibers
The use of Ring of FireTM in a partial vacuum opens up new production possibilities:
The temperature range during splicing can be reduced to <300°C, which also allows the processing of low-melt materials: for example, GRIN lenses.

3SAE has a patent for a method of thermally stabilized plasma™. This ensures stable and, in particular, reproducible conditions across a temperature range of <300°C to >3000°C in order to manufacture tapers, combiners, and fiber bundles and to splice optical fibers and endcaps between 50 µm and 2.5 mm. The assembly prevents the contamination of the glass; this leads to the successful production of ultrahigh-power components for applications into the kilowatt range.

Simple Operation
During processing, the user can change both adjustment platforms, the position of the electrodes, and the electric arc settings 25 times per second; this makes it possible to program highly-optimized processes.

Reliable software with which tapers as long as 175 mm can be designed and produced with different shapes is included. The integrated cleaver makes it possible to separate components at the desired position with micrometer precision.
