The increase in security requirements and the high expectations of the availability of digital services make monitoring fiber optic and copper networks online more and more important. Network performance monitoring and diagnostics (NPMD) solutions such as Viavi’s Observer products include software and hardware components for package-specific network analysis.
Observer GigaStor records the operation of an IT network and makes a comprehensive analysis possible on this basis. In the event of an error, it is easy to navigate to the point in time of the failure and obtain detailed information on the network status before, during, and after the event down to the package level. This makes it possible to quickly and accurately identify and locate the cause of the error.
Security forensics can also be used to determine whether a security breach has occurred, and which resources have been compromised. With Observer GigaFlow, end-to-end evaluation of the individual data streams has been made possible for the first time; thus, the error can be assigned to a specific network level, an application, or even a terminal device.
The Observer Apex software summarizes the monitoring results in a few clearly understandable performance metrics; thus, they can be easily understood and interpreted by IT technicians without in-depth knowledge of fiber optic technology.
