ProCoater – Small Recoater from Northlab Photonics
Inexpensive molds now make applications with various fiber diameters affordable

The new fiber recoater from Northlab is particularly user friendly, fast, and saves space. At the same time, it offers high flexibility with regard to the fiber diameter and recoating materials.
The fibers are held by molds. Northlab offers new square molds; they can also be manufactured inexpensively with custom diameters. Standard sizes include 250 µm, 400 µm, and 600 µm.
A 365 nm, high-power UV LED array makes it possible for the applied coatings to harden extremely quickly (<3 s). Thanks to a high amount of energy of the LED, different coating materials can be used with a high and a low refractive index.
Due to the option of battery operation, the ProCoater can be flexibly applied to the fiber: this facilitates the processing of very short fiber pieces. This compact device has a footprint of just 125 mm x 65 mm.
Via the USB interface, four programs can be stored in which the parameters for various recoating materials and fiber diameters are saved.
