We offer tools for a large variety of different types of fiber processing:
This includes the stripping of fiber claddings, the cleaning and cleaving of fibers, and splicing or polishing, depending on the application. Microscopes and/or interferometers are used in the analysis of fiber end surfaces.
We have tools available for all stages of processing, both for field applications and applications in the laboratory. We cover the entire range of fiber diameters to 1.2 mm.
Polishers for Samples and the Touch-up of Optical Fibers and Connectors
To process single fibers or make touch-ups on connectors, smaller units are generally used. For this purpose, we would like to introduce Ultra Tec Manufacturing, Inc.’s UT.Minipol.1 polisher and Seikoh Giken’s SFP-LITE-XX REPAIR MATE polishing unit.
Ultra Tec’s polisher is suited for all connectors, including SC, FC, ST, D4, and SMA PC. With the appropriate mounts, it is also suited for bare fibers. The UT.MINIPOL.1 polisher utilizes technology similar to the technology utilized in series production systems and achieves a high-quality finish. There are a number of power supply options available: in addition to normal operation via a power grid, a 12 V battery can also be used.
The unit manufactured by Seikoh Giken is specifically designed for field applications. The so-called REPAIR MATE is specially equipped for use in re-polishing connector end faces damaged in the field. The REPAIR MATE also utilizes the same technology as the larger polishing units to ensure a high-quality finish.
