Series 500 In-line Optical Power Monitor

Photonics News No 43

UK43-0220

LASER COMPONENTS is excited to announce the launch of its new Eigenlight 500 Series line of in-line optical fibre power monitors. The programmability, low-cost, low loss, low PDL and high directivity makes the Series 500 monitors ideal for monitoring the optical power of Long Haul, Metro, FTTX and Data Centre Optical Networks.

The technology behind the proprietary optical tap maintains fibre continuity for the transmitted signal, avoiding lenses and partial reflectors. This means that the transmitted signal remains within the fibre and only the light needed to measure the optical power is extracted from the fibre. With these features, the Series 500 is used in the most advanced optical systems without compromising the quality of the transmitted signal.

The LCD display flips when rotated for easy viewing of the readout when the monitor has a configuration that requires viewing from the opposite side, eliminating the need to bend or loop the cable to view the display.  The durable internal steel-tube construction provides excellent durability for field, factory or laboratory environment. It has relative or absolute power measurement, with a dB/dBm mode button which allows you to measure either absolute or relative optical power. The device detects light propagating in the forward direction only.

Combining these exceptional specifications with advanced features such as long battery life (3 years), USB interface for data logging and control, universal connectors, programmability and auto power on and off, makes the Series 500 ideal for use in manufacturing, research and development labs and field testing of optical systems.
