Laser Rods and Crystals

Laser rods are used as laser media and active media in the generation of a laser beam through stimulated emissions. Non-linear optical (NLO) crystals are used in frequency conversion such as the generation of SHG and THG beams.

Laser Rods

Laser rods

For the generation of laser radiation. Laser rods for lamp pumped and diode pumped lasers.

Laser crystals are the media in which laser radiation is generated. The high quality of our laser rods guarantees optimum performance in the laser system. The diversity of the available materials ensures that we offer the most suitable crystal for every application.

In the following are some laser rods with a short commentary about their properties and applications:

  • Nd:YAG (for high power laser)
  • Nd:YVO4 (higher efficiency than Nd:YAG; output polarisation parallel to the optical axis)
  • Nd:Ce:YAG (thermally more stable than Nd:YAG, for high power with high beam quality)
  • Nd:Ce:Tb:YAG (thermally more stable and more efficient than Nd:YAG; is used for high rep rates (DPSS))
  • Yb:YAG (highly efficient material used for thin disk lasers)
  • Yb:Nd:YVO4 (highly efficient; used at lower powers for DPSS)
  • Nd:GdVO4 (thermally more stable than Nd:YVO4; used for DPSS; output polariziation parallel to the optical axis)
  • Cr4+YAG (excellent for passively Q-switching Nd or Yb doped lasers at wavelengths from 1 - 1.2 µm)
  • Ti:Sapphire (for widely tunable und ultrashort pulsed lasers with high gain and high power outputs)
  • Nd:YLF (for low power but better beam qualities, birefringent, polarisation emissions perpendicular to each other)
  • Er:YAG (For medical applications)
  • Ho:Cr:Tm:YAG (Wide applications in surgery, dentistry, atmospheric testing,...)

The following information is required when requesting a quotation:

  • Type of crystal
  • Doping (atm. %)
  • Dimensions (e.g. diametre x length)
  • End surfaces (plane, Brewster angle, or similar)
  • Coating of end surfaces
