Different Laser Modules for Different Markets

Driven by numerous requests for customer-specific OEM products, we began producing laser modules in 1987. Under the FLEXPOINT® trademark up to 35,000 laser modules are produced each year in a large variety of models.


As different as the FLEXPOINT® models are, their general design is surprisingly similar.

 
Laser Module Assembly
FLEXPOINT® lasers are equipped with either a cw laser diode or a DPSS module. The laser diodes are available with wavelengths from 405 - 905 nm; the diode-pumped solid-state laser has a wavelength of 532 nm. The power range of the laser modules varies between
5 µW and 400 mW.


Eletronics: The Heart of the Laser System
To correctly drive the laser reliable electronics are required, all of which are developed in house. The electronic circuit is protected against voltage peaks and reverse voltage.


Beam Profiles
The optics applied are responsible for the beam profile created. The various profiles include dot, line, cross-hair lasers, and diffractive optical elements (DOEs). DOEs produce structured laser light such as grids or circles.


The Modular Principle
There are different options available for the configuration of
FLEXPOINT® laser modules. More than 2,000 different models have been custom designed and assembled according to this principle.


The customer selects a basic model and then has the option of ordering additional features. These customer-specific laser modules are made to order. Delivery of such a custom laser module typically takes 2-4 weeks, depending on how long it takes to obtain the individual components.


Standard products, such as in particular dot and line lasers with standard wavelengths, are available in stock.


Developmental Capacity
The latest developmental tools in the field of optical design and beam profiling are used, as is a 3D CAD system with which a complete laser module can be simulated. Time-consuming and expensive “trial and error” phases are no longer necessary and the developmental cycle is reduced.
