Optical Fibers and Cables

Laser Components also has multi-mode fibers and special fibers, such as, for example, sapphire fibers and hollow-core fibers available. In addition to these fibers, POFs and cables for applications with special requirements are also available.

Indoor and outdoor fiber optic cables are available in different designs. The SI200/230 optical fiber with a numerical aperture of 0.37 is the standard used in fiber optic cables. Depending on the customer’s requirements, other combinations are also available.

In Step Index (SI) fibers, core and cladding feature fixed refractive indices with the index of the core always higher. This results in a step index profile.

A continuously decreasing refractive index enables high bandwidths and low pulse distortion, which is optimal for data transmission.

SM fibers with small core diameters are used in telecommunications for signal transmission across long distances.

Single-mode fibers in which the linear polarization of the coupled light beam is maintained.

Multicore fibers provide higher bandwidths with fewer cables and connections in data centers and switching stations.

The behavior of these fibers is modified by the introduction of certain materials and optimized for specific requirements.

These fibers are grown from a single crystal; therefore, they retain their material properties while remaining flexible.

Cost-effective polymer optical fibers available as bare fibers or preassembled cables.

Hollow quartz glass capillaries with a mirrored inside for the transmission of IR wavelengths are ideal for use in CO2 and Er:YAG lasers.

Fiber optic cables for indoor applications can be assembled with all standard connector systems.

Robust bundles of two to six optical fibers for outdoor use: The cables can be equipped with all standard connector systems.

High birefringence spun fibers are used in polarimetric sensors, for example, to measure the Farraday effect.

Passive double-clad pump fibers produce a bundled and directed beam.
