Beam-guiding Components for High-power Lasers
Perfect Fit – Stable Hold
D66-095
It’s sparkling and fragments are flying around: That’s a sure sign that metal is being processed. Whether cutting or welding, many operations in industrial material processing are performed today using movable laser systems. For the longevity of these systems, it is important to reliably secure and protect the optical components integrated into these systems. This is done with the help of so-called beam-guiding components.
The beam-guiding systems offered by Haas provide comfortable “wrapping” of optical components. The massive housings made of anodized aluminum ensure the stability and precision required in an industrial environment. Different components are available depending on the direction in which the laser beam has to be guided.
Change of Direction
If the laser beam has to change direction, it is best to use kinematic beam benders. These components hold the bending mirror to redirect the laser beam at a certain angle, generally a 90° angle. To avoid distortion in the mirror, it is placed strainless in the mount.
To easily clean the optics, they can be demounted and mounted again without any trouble and without affecting the adjustment of the mirrors (see figure). The bending units are available for mirrors from 1” to 4”.
Splitting or Combining Beams
Beam splitting units make it possible to tread different paths simultaneously. The incoming beam is split into two partial beams inside the unit with the help of a beam splitter optic. One part of the beam is reflected at a 90° angle, and the other part is transmitted. This allows two different beam paths to be used simultaneously. The beam splitting unit can also be used to combine two laser beams. They are available for optics from 1” to 3”.
Beam Switches for Time Sharing
If the laser beam has to travel different paths consecutively, beam switches are used. Beam switches contain precisely mounted bending units that direct the beam in different directions with the help of mirrors, either pneumatically or manually. This allows one and the same laser beam to be used for different processes at different points in time (“time sharing”). Beam switches are available for mirrors from 1” to 3”.
Quality and Characteristics of the Components
Through the use of adjusting screws, all components provide a method of precisely and reproducibly adjusting the optics in two independent planes by ±2° each.
The housings can be mounted directly right side up or on their side using the existing threads and bore holes. Corresponding technical drawings are available for this purpose.
Beam-guiding components are designed for power levels of up to 500 W. A water cooling system is available on an optional basis for high-power lasers.
Laser mirrors or beam splitters are used as optics, the materials and coatings of which are designed for the required laser wavelengths and power levels. We produce optics according to your specifications!
