Combined attenuation measurement devices used to determine the return loss and insertion loss in optical fibers and cables.
This category of power meters is used to measure both return loss (RL) and insertion loss (IL). The pulsed method makes it possible to measure the fiber without winding it first.
OptoTest’s offers a multifaceted product range from simple measurement devices to systems used in the bidirectional measurement of IL and RL.
The OP721 combines a high channel count and all the advantages of a 2×2 configuration. Equipped with the latest high-speed technology, this bidirectional optical switch can be used for both single-mode and multimode applications. The OP721 is particularly well suited for bi-directional multi-fiber testing.
The OP725 optical switch supports high-speed switching with high repeatability and low losses. It is ideally suited for bidirectional testing in single mode or multimode applications. The slim design occupies half a standard rack. The integrated USB interface allows for optimal integration into the measurement sequences of the OptoTest software.
The next generation of devices is the OP940. This unit includes a mode for return loss measurements at different points, which is ideal for component measurements and complex cables.
The OP940-CSW performs automated IL and RL measurements on multichannel fibers with MPO/MTP connectors. In only 40 seconds you will have completed measurements on twelve fibers.
The OP940-SW was developed for attenuation measurements (IL/RL) on multi-fiber multimode cables and fiber ribbons. It is available in versions for four to 24 channels.
The compact measuring instruments of the OP960 series feature extremely high speeds and outstanding ease-of-use. Their large, high-resolution touch screens and integrated Ethernet capability make them the preferred choice for anyone who needs a complete, precise and easy-to-use test system in a small space.
The operator-friendly OP 925 uses a continuous wave laser, employing continuous wave reflectometry (OCWR or CW) for RL measurements, while the standard cw method is applied for IL measurements. The instrument is particularly suitable for simplex patch cords and assemblies with low measurement throughput. The fibers must be blunted in advance with an index matching block, index matching gel or winding block.
Controlled excitation conditions are a basic requirement for measurements on multimode fibers. So-called mode controllers or mode conditioners like the OP-LCKit are necessary to avoid fluctuations, dynamic effects and non-reproducible results.
Measurements are only as good as the weakest link in the chain. Therefore, good reference cables are indispensable.
