Calibration Services

Calibration of Laser Power Meters and Fiber-Optic Attenuators

Inspection Intervals Must Be Maintained
If a company is certified according to ISO 9001, the measurement devices must be recalibrated at a given time interval. If the service intervals are too long, it is possible to inadvertently produce faulty measurements.

What Is Calibration?
In calibration, the measurement instrument being measured is compared to a standard, and the deviation is documented. This deviation is recorded in a written document and must be taken into account in each measurement result. In calibration, the measurement device is not adjusted.

What Is Adjustment?
Adjustment is an alignment of the measurement device: it is compared to a standard and then adjusted to this value under defined reference conditions. This allows systematic measurement deviations to be eliminated.

Retraceability – NIST, ISO, or DIN?

The retraceability to national standards is important. DIN stands for the German industrial standard, ISO stands for the International Organization for Standardization, and NIST stands for the National Institute of Standards and Technology in the U.S.A.
