High-power Fiber-optical Cables with and without AR Coatings
For Safe Transmission of High Optical Power
D60-018
The low-loss transmission of optical power is necessary in many applications in laser technology. Optical fibers are used for this purpose. High-power cables are used, in particular, in medical technology, material processing, laser marking, and in pump fibers for lasers.
High-power Cables with Optimal Heat Removal
LASER COMPONENTS now offers high-power cables with connectors and copper ferrules. The use of copper as a ferrule material guarantees optimal heat removal. Heat develops in the fiber through the coupling of high optical power in both directions. In addition to standard SMA connectors, the new D-80 connector is also available. This connector is fully compatible with the Mitsubishi LD-80.
Specification Details
- Fiber core diameter: 400 - 800 µm
- Wavelengths: 400 - 1200 nm
NEW: AR coating
To further optimize coupling conditions, the ends of the fiber connectors can optionally be equipped with an AR coating. This AR coating is offered by LASER COMPONENTS with a reflection value of 0.1-0.3% at wavelengths of 400-1200 nm. These coatings are available as single AR, dual AR, or broadband AR coatings.
Eccentricity. An important feature of high-power optical cables is the eccentricity from the fiber core to the diameter of the ferrule. Depending on the fiber core diameter, this value should not exceed 10-20 µm and can be accurately determined using a highly-precise measurement microscope. Upon request, the high-power optical cables can be delivered with a corresponding measurement protocol for a small surcharge. In addition to the attenuation values and the eccentricity measurements, a photograph of the fiber end is also included.
