Small OTDRs for specific OTDR measurement applications in a convenient size at an affordable price.
The new generation of compact and lightweight devices accelerates and optimizes on-site measurements of metro and access networks. With customized user interfaces and automated analyses, this class of devices is perfect for use by both experts and less experienced technicians.
Preset measurement configurations or those defined by the user avoid installation errors and ensure continually uniform measurement results. Tests that can be performed at the push of a button and a clear display facilitate fast and easy measurements. Even inexperienced measurement technicians can simply perform measurements; the graphical interface makes it easy to interpret the curves.
The device is available with one, two, and three wavelengths at 1310 nm, 1550 nm, and 1625 nm (in service). These OTDRs have the following advantages: they combine all important optical fiber inspections in a handheld tester with a red light source (a visual fault locator (VFL)), an optical light source, an optical power meter (OPM), and an inspection microscope for fiber connectors available on an optional basis.
Performance Features:
Simple OTDR analyses available optionally with Smart Link Mapper, SmartAuto, and LinkMap, as well as upgrades carried out on site easily, automated tests with an objective pass/fail analysis, and higher productivity thanks to powerful, location-independent connection options.
Using a secure encrypted connection, specialists in the operations center have full access to the SmartOTDR device on-site and can support their colleagues from their desks. The connection may be established over any available network. The expert sees everything the field technician sees on the display and can operate the device remotely at any time. This allows even difficult tasks to be solved quickly, efficiently and with a minimum of personnel.
SmartAccess Anywhere is supported by all Viavi SmartOTDR devices. The feature is available in different access packages.
