OTDR test solutions to maintain and troubleshoot CWDM, ultra long haul, FTTx/PON, Access and Metro networks.
We offer OTDRs for wide-area networks from AFL Noyes and VIAVI. There are three different VIAVI OTDR measurement module series available for wide-area networks. They can be used in combination with the MTS-6000A and MTS-8000 base platforms. The OTDRs from AFL are compact modules; they are less expensive, have a longer battery life, and are easy to use.
OTDRs from VIAVI
CWDM OTDR modules used in MTS-6000A and MTS-8000 platforms are fast, reliable, and inexpensive. They are fast and reliable in applications and inexpensive to procure. CWDM OTDRs are used in metro and wireless back-haul networks.
A special feature of these modules is their characterization of fiber connections with dedicated CWDM wavelengths according to ITU-T G.694.2 while controlling the central wavelength. The following measurements can be made: via a CWDM multiplexer (MUX), via an optical add/drop multiplexer (OADM), and via a demultiplexer (DEMUX) with a central wavelength control.
Thus, CWDM OTDR modules are particularly well suited for cable network operators, dark-fiber providers, and telecommunications service providers in the characterization and maintenance of any CWDM optical fiber networks and troubleshooting.
The Following Measurements are Available:
Features of the Modules
The 8100 FiberCompleteTM series covers fundamental tests for the qualification of optical fibers; this includes the measurement of bidirectional insertion loss (IL), optical return loss (ORL), and OTDR measurements with a module starting with an optical port. For immediate troubleshooting, the so-called FaultFinder mode is available.
Covering Several Tests
All traditional test requirements can be covered with a single unit. This module completes measurements very quickly and is easy to operate. Special knowledge is not required for application. The FiberCompleteTM module is suited for the quick characterization of point-to-point and point-to-multipoint passive optical network (PON) connections. The 8100 modules are compatible with the MTS-6000A and MTS-8000 platforms.
Main Features of the 8100 Series FiberCompleteTM:
This most comprehensive OTDR module series for the MTS-6000A and MTS-8000 platforms is suited for the installation, operation, and maintenance of enterprise, FTTx, access, metro, very-long-haul (VLH), and ultra-long-haul (ULH) networks.
These 8100 series OTDR modules comprise three measurement instruments in just one unit: an optical power meter, a laser light source, and OTDR.
The following tests are integrated into this module:
Thanks to automatic data traffic detection, both the risk of interference with the live signal and the risk of destruction of the optical transmitter are reduced during an OTDR measurement. The module also profits from the smart link mapper (SLM), which prevents misinterpretations during analysis while maintaining a constant testing time.
