80-µm and 200-µm InGaAs APDs

The new IAE series from the LASER COMPONENTS Detector Group is suitable for the spectral range from 1000 to 1650 nm. Compared to Germanium APDs, InGaAs APDs have a significantly lower noise level, in relation to the active area a higher bandwidth, and advantages as a result of increased sensitivity up to 1650 nm.


The IAE series has an active area diameter of either 80 µm or 200 µm. The APD comes in a TO-46 housing or on a ceramic submount that can be easily integrated into a customer’s hybrid system.


With the IAE080x, bandwidths of at least 1 GHz are feasible at a typical capacitance of 1 pF. The internal gain factor is 10 which allows small signals in the IR wavelength range to be detected and the measurement range of “eye-safe“ distance measuring systems to be significantly increased.
