Product Manager

Laser Components Canada is a proud member of the Laser Components / Photona Group, an international company with over 270 employees and three production sites located in Canada, Germany and United States.

The demand for Laser Components Canada products is expanding rapidly in growth markets such as LIDAR, telemetry, and security scanners. Additionally, the company is actively developing new photonic product lines.

This opportunity is targeted at individuals with at least 5 years of experience in product management within the photonics sector. This key position will enable the successful candidate to enhance their knowledge and skills in a high-tech environment.

• Plan and launch new product introductions, coordinating necessary actions with other departments
• Manage the complete lifecycle of the product line
• Create compelling sales & marketing content including but not limited to datasheets, application notes, white papers, webinars, and training material
• Collaborate with the marketing team on product promotion activities and campaigns
• Actively participate in development projects serving as product owner
• Manage internal product line SharePoint site ensuring content is up to date
• Provide technical and commercial support to the sales team for both new and existing customers
• Represent the company at trade shows and conferences, including delivering presentations and participating in customer visits

Under the direction of the General Manager, the successful candidate will gradually take responsibility for the following strategic aspects:

• Define and publish the product line and portfolio strategy • Build product roadmaps based on market demands, customer needs, and our technical capabilities
• Define the product ‘’ Unique Selling Proposition’’ (USP) • Prepare business cases for new product developments or customizations
• Screen incoming sales opportunities that require R&D engagement, assessing technical, commercial and strategic fit
• Oversee and challenge cost calculation of the products
• Define the pricing strategy and ensure healthy profitability of the product line
• Explore and provide guidance on make-vs-buy decisions
• Track financial and quality KPIs for the product line, including revenue, margin, forecast, order income, backlog and RMAs.
• Conduct market, customer and competitor research to identify trends and define target markets and focus applications

• University degree in Physics, Physical or Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent combination of training and experience, along with relevant experience in product management or sales
• A minimum of 5 years experience in product management
• Knowledge and experience in photonics or optoelectronics
• Proficiency in both French and English, with strong oral and written communication skills
• Highly developed teamwork abilities
• Strong organization skills
• Self motivated and able to work autonomously
• Willingness to thrive in high-tech sector characterized by a dynamic, flexible, and constantly evolving environment.
• Mastery of basic information technology tools (Microsoft Suite, others, etc.)
