Privacy Policy

Laser Components (UK) Ltd., LCUK, understands that your privacy is very important to you and that you rightfully care about how your personal data is used. We respect and value the privacy of everyone who contacts us, e.g. emails or telephones us, attends a tradeshow giving data, or visits our website  How we manage and use personal data is described in the following section.

Who is collecting the data?

Any member of staff of LCUK collects personal data. In addition, as LCUK’s webpages are embedded within those of Laser Components GmbH’s (LCGmbH) website, data is also collected per LCGmbH’s privacy policy, written in English, which can be found here: .

What data is being collected?

We collect personal data in the form of an email address, person’s name, current location (company or institute address), telephone number(s), product interest(s) and application, as well as when, where or how that data was obtained, e.g. exhibition, telephone call, customer visit, email received, referral from a third party, website reference to a person on their company website.

What is the legal basis for processing the data?

Without knowing the customer and product interest LCUK could not carry on in business and supply products to customers; this is our legitimate interest in knowing how to make contact.

Will the data be shared with any third parties?

We will share basic details, e.g. company name, location, key people, with our photonics equipment suppliers, usually listed on our website, for bringing solutions to our customers using their products. When we use third parties, e.g. mailing newsletters via a specialist provider who would need a name and address, we ensure their Privacy Policy is compliant to GDPR. We shall never sell personal data nor maliciously or knowingly supply such data to other parties. All personal data is secured via industry accepted methods, e.g. computer passwords, locked cabinets, and use of authorised personnel. In the extremely unlikely event of a data breach we shall contact you with specific details as soon as possible.

How will the information be used?

We use it to fulfil orders, respond to enquiries, identify people who previously had an interest in a product who then might be legitimately interested in an improved product or feature, and when a pattern emerges there would be a good business case to make contact with that person to provide additional benefits, such as improved economies of scale pricing. We also use the data to arrange an exhibition/tradeshow or organise customer/supplier visits within a geographical area, or how to judge what product to invest in for future business growth.

How long will the data be stored for?

Since we know people remain in the photonic industry throughout their careers we retain data indefinitely, unless we have been specifically asked to remove it.

What rights does the data subject have?

You can request in writing at any time what data we have, how we obtained it, why we have it, as well as you having the right to correct, amend or even delete it.

How can the data subject raise a complaint?

You may contact us with details of your complaint, or file a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office,
