PIN Diodes

PIN photodiodes convert light to current – without a bias voltage having to be applied. Silicon is commonly used as an inexpensive detector material in the Vis range. For higher demands, InGaAs is used; it covers the widest spectral range from the Vis to the NIR. We offer silicon carbide as a “solar-blind” detector specifically for the UV range.

Si-/Ge-/InGaAs- Photodiodes and APDs with Fibre Connection

The incoupling of the signal is done via pigtail

400 nm – 2,100 nm. PD-LD, Inc. offers a broad range of photodiodes and APDs with fibre connection or optical receptacle.

PD-LD, Inc. offers a broad range of photodiodes and APDs with fibre connection or optical receptacle.

Detectors are available with an FC, ST, or SC connector or as fibre-coupled versions with core diametres from 3 – 200 µm. The fibre end is either open or equipped with an optical connector (PC or APC polishing is possible).

Depending on the integrated photodiode the spectrum ranging from

  • 400 – 1100 nm: Si diodes
  • 1100 – 1650 nm: InGaAs diodes
  • 800 – 2100 nm Ge diodes

can be detected very efficiently up to a bandwidth of 3.5 GHz.

Customer-specific photodiodes can be integrated upon request.

Applications
Applications for these detectors can be found in fibre optical data transmission (CATV), measurement devices (OTDR), process control, optical sensors, and alignment systems.
