Use dispersion measuring devices to detect interference in the fiber. 

Dispersion affects the transmission quality in fiber optic networks. By measuring chromatic dispersion (CD), polarization mode dispersion (PMD), and the attenuation profile, you can ensure that your network complies with the ITU-T, IEC, and TIA/EIA industry standards.  

Our partner VIAVI has developed a modular test system that allows you to detect disruptive dispersion effects and eliminate their causes. For example, a PMD measurement can indicate bends or errors in the fiber geometry. PMD characterization is particularly important for networks with high bit rates. These dispersion measuring devices are used in the production of cables, as well as in the installation and operation of networks.
