LASER COMPONENTS introduces OptoTest’s OP415 polarity analyzer, which offers a fast and efficient way to check the fiber assignment and channel configuration of MTP/MPO cables. Its integrated color display allows the user to see the paths of all the individual channels at a glance. The device is designed for tests on 24-fiber connections but can easily be adapted to variants with 8 and 12 fibers by simply replacing the cover plate with one that offers the respective slots. Twelve-fiber and 24-fiber polarity types A, B, and C have been preinstalled, but the OP415 is also capable of storing custom polarities.
In addition to the pre-programmed settings, cables can be checked “manually” using the visual fault locator (VFL). Twenty-four red lasers (650 nm) check each fiber individually. This method makes work considerably easier – especially when using fibers without color coding.
The OP415 was primarily developed for lab use and offers decisive advantages, for example in the production of optical flat ribbon cables. The assignment of the individual channels is an important factor in the functionality of MTP/MPO cables.
