Dear Readers!
Pandemics, supply problems, record inflation, war, energy shortages, climate change... one crisis follows another. Although the business continuity plans implemented for several years now in all the LASER COMPONENTS Group's production and sales entities had not anticipated such an accumulation of simultaneous events, they have nonetheless enabled us to get through this period without any particular worries. This is undoubtedly because we are constantly striving to assess and deal with scenarios which, until recently, were considered too unlikely.
We have also identified a medium-term risk that we need to address proactively: the recruitment of experienced staff. With over 270 employees and a turnover of less than 5%, we look to the future with confidence. While we have always been able to fill key positions quickly, there are vacancies on the horizon which will present us with major challenges. Some twenty colleagues will reach retirement age over the next five years. Other positions will need to be created. In both cases, we are already looking for internal and external solutions.
As far as pensions are concerned, the question of the relationship with work is raised. Covid-19 and its confinements have led to a certain loss of meaning at work. Even before the epidemic, the generation of millenials differed from their elders in their desire to give meaning to work: to do work that reflects their convictions and commitments. Faced with this changing relationship to work, whatever the age of the employees, the company has an important role to play in questioning its global mission, in order to attract, mobilize and continue to retain its employees. LASER COMPONENTS has been committed to this approach through CSR for some time now, and we intend to redouble our efforts in this environmental and societal commitment.
