Around the world, there are three certified laboratories for the calibration of Gentec-EO laser power meters and laser energy meters: One of them is located at Laser Components Germany GmbH in Olching, near Munich. It is the central point of contact for customers from all over Europe.

What to expect
Measurement Setup
The measurement setup at LASER COMPONENTS is identical to that of the manufacturer. Gentec-EO regularly performs comparative calibrations between its own calibration laboratory in Canada and the calibration laboratory of LASER COMPONENTS Germany GmbH in Olching (Round Robin principle).
Traceability
Our calibration service assures traceability to NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) or PTB (Physikalische Technische Bundesanstalt). The calibration process complies with the requirements of ISO 17025.
Calibration Procedure
The reference detector we use for calibration is a “gold standard” measuring head that is regularly calibrated by NIST or PTB. The entire setup of our semi-automated measuring station also perfectly matches the specifications issued by the manufacturer Gentec-EO. This allows us to guarantee that every calibration process is carried out with the same level of precision as that of the manufacturer (first level calibration). Many other suppliers, on the other hand, only carry out a so-called “second level calibration”. This means that they use a “silver standard” measuring head, in other words a self-made and therefore inaccurate “copy” of the “gold standard”.
During calibration, we use a spectrophotometer to create an individual wavelength profile for each detector. The values determined for sensitivity and wavelength correction are stored in the EEPROM, a memory storage in the detector connector.
Documentation
All the measurement results are documented in a detailed calibration certificate. For comparison purposes, you will also find the sensitivity of the detector determined during the previous calibration (variance report). You will receive this documentation as a free service when recalibrating.
Process Time
This calibration service saves European users of Gentec-EO laser measurement technology time and money, as there is no need for time-consuming shipping to Canada. We usually carry out the calibration within 5 to 7 workdays.

How to send in your product
Please remember that we can only process shipments with an RMA number (Laser Components Returns Number). Shipments without an RMA number will be returned at your cost!

- As soon as we receive your RMA request, you will be assigned an RMA number. This RMA number is valid for 30 days, after which it will be closed, and we will no longer be able to accept returns.
- Please enclose the RMA receipt you received from us with your shipment.
- Please make sure to clearly write the RMA number on the address label.
