about fiber assemblies

LASER COMPONENTS assembles the widest variety of optical fibers. No matter if you use bare fibers, industrial fibers or fibers with a protective jacket – they all can be equipped with any kind of standard connectors. It goes without saying that we also equip fibers with your own custom-made connectors. 

Standard cables and PM cables 
For conventional applications we assemble multimode, single-mode, and POF cables with all standard connectors according to your specifications. We also manufacture reference cables with precise reference connectors for measurement tasks as well as polarization maintaining cables for telecom, sensor, and laser technology applications. 

Coated Fiber Endfaces 
Anti-reflection coatings increase the efficiency of the coupled light beam considerably and reduce back reflections to a minimum. We offer AR coatings for different wavelength ranges. In-house production allows us high flexibility and short delivery times. 

Fiber Bundles 
For illumination and sensor applications, several optical fibers are often combined into fiber bundles. You determine the number of fibers to be bundled and the geometric dimensions of the ferrules. 

Patch cords for CO2 lasers 
CO2 wavelengths are usually transmitted in hollow-core fibers. In this case, it is crucial to prevent any kind of particles from entering the fiber. Our solution to this problem are patch cords with integrated ZnSe windows, which can easily be plugged into the CO2 laser using SMA connectors.  

ModeStrip 
Our High-Power ModeStrip connector was developed for fiber optic transmission of high optical powers: Cladding modes that are created by a sub optimal beam profile are removed while the generated heat is dissipated using a cooling element. Thus, the High-Power ModeStrip protects both the fiber and connector from thermal destruction. 

FiberTips 
Upon request, we provide fiber ends with end caps or ball lenses. These so-called FiberTips change the beam characteristics. Cylindrical end caps reduce the power density of the beam, while the light is focused or collimated with spherical lenses.

Medical applications 
Our fiber optic production department is an EN ISO 13485-certified supplier of components for medical applications. These components are manufactured under class 7 clean room conditions (10.000 according to US Federal Standard 209). We will be happy to coordinate with you if you have special requirements, e.g. for biocompatibility and sterilization. 

Machinery and Quality Control 
All of our machines and measuring equipment are state of the art. Our computer-controlled grinding and polishing machines make a decisive contribution to the high quality of our assemblies by delivering precise and reproducible results. 

We use advanced outgoing goods inspection to ensure that you are always satisfied with our products: A digital microscope allows us to perform 3D, centricity and surface analysis of laser and medical fibers. PC and APC polishes are checked using an interferometer for fiber optic connectors. Other measurement stations are deployed to determine the insertion loss and return loss of the fibers. We go to these lengths to ensure that you receive a perfectly assembled fiber that meets your specifications exactly.
