With several new features, the core-centering S179 fusion splicer from FITEL is more efficient and user-friendly than its predecessor. One of the most interesting features is the V groove, which can be removed in just a few steps for easy access to all parts that require cleaning. Via a 4.3” LCD display with a touch panel, a technician can easily and intuitively operate this device. At the same time, he has access to the last 100 fiber profiles.

The larger and well-illuminated splicing area is easier to see and makes loading of the S179 easier than its predecessor. A powerful 8N motor provides for reproducible splicing processes.

In semi-automatic operation, the splicing of a fiber takes just six seconds. The improved heating system increases the efficiency significantly: With the new power mode, the shrinking of splice protectors takes just half the time.

The additional wireless interfaces are new: Via NFC, the user can unlock this device easily via his cell phone; an optional WiFi dongle makes it possible to operate and monitor everything via a smartphone app.

As with all of FITEL’s splicers, the S179 is also robust enough to withstand water, dust, and even hard blows. It is, therefore, the best choice for outdoor applications – particularly because the powerful rechargeable battery delivers power for approximately 200 splicing cycles. With up to 300 different splicing programs, all standard fiber types can be processed. You may also select automatic mode to make everything happen automatically.
