HVA-Series: True DC-coupled Voltage Amplifiers with Zero Output Offset
The series manufactured by FEMTO Messtechnik GmbH is available with bandwidths to suit specific requirements avoiding the addition of unnecessary wideband noise, 10 MHz, 200 MHz and 500 MHz.
True DC-coupling is extremely important for accurate pulse amplification and analysis especially for different pulse lengths for example digital codes or transients with durations in the micro- to millisecond time-scale. The DC component is related to the average signal, for example, if the duty cycle changes to 1:100 then the baseline would shift by 1%. The HVA-series can compensate for this. If the amplifier is AC coupled or has a large output offset to be de-coupled by the AC setting of the oscilloscope there will be significant undershoots and baseline shifts in the measurements. Therefore, all HVA Amplifiers offer a true DC coupling and an adjustable output offset control.
Low input noise is very important for a good signal-to-noise ratio, especially when amplifying small signals. All HVA-Series amplifiers are optimised for minimum input noise reaching excellent values as low as 0.9 nV/√Hz.
HSA-Series: when DC-coupling is unimportant and a fast response of >500 MHz is essential
If a true DC coupled amplifier is required beyond a 100 MHz bandwidth, in general we suggest the HSA-Series GHz amplifier series, with unrivalled voltage noise of 670 pV/√Hz for the ultra-wide bandwidth response range of 10 kHz to 2 GHz.
