Laser Modules in the Lumber Industry

Select the right laser module

With the Timber Processing & Energy Expo (TP&EE) soon starting in Portland, Oregon, it becomes evident the integration of lasers in the lumber industry has become increasingly important for enhancing operational efficiency and precision. Laser modules play a crucial role as they allow for accurate positioning of wooden boards, facilitate precise cuts, and mark drilling locations. 3D scanners in sawmills and production lines can significantly boost efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall output quality. These machines also require laser modules with homogeneous line profiles.

But what kind of laser modules do you need for the wood and lumber industries. LASER COMPONENTS, a leading player in the laser module market and manufacturer of the well established FLEXPOINT® brand, have put all their knowledge into a short overview. "The Right Laser Module for the Wood Industry," which is now available for download. This guide provides detailed insights into challenges the lumber industry has to face and shows you which modules are best suited for wood processing applications.

LASER COMPONENTS is also excited to announce the upcoming launch of ruggedized laser modules with long lines and good visibility. These modules will complement the existing portfolio of laser beams in bright green (520 nm) and red (635 nm) with stainless steel, M12 threaded housings (ILM12IP), or 19 mm housings with either M12 connectors or open leads (HD series). Designed for durability and performance, these modules are IP67 certified, making them ideal for demanding environments in the timber industry.

In addition to these versatile modules, LASER COMPONENTS offers machine vision laser modules that feature homogeneous power distribution across the laser line. These modules are available in various wavelengths, including red and IR (640 nm to 850 nm), and with different output powers, making them highly adaptable to the specific needs of timber processing applications.
