Using a combination of polymer and fused silica, Holo/OR produces cost-effective beam shapers and splitters for laser applications in the low and medium power range, as well as for medium and high volumes. A polymer layer with the structures for a diffractive optical element (DOE) is applied to a stable glass substrate. The other side of the glass substrate can be AR coated for the wavelength used.
While the cost-effective plastic coating makes it possible to achieve a low price, the glass provides the necessary resistance. For 8ns pulses at 1064nm, the laser damage threshold is above 10J/cm2. In the wavelength range between 450nm and 1080nm, the DOEs have a high transparency. Thus, they cover the visible spectrum and are also suitable for many IR wavelengths.
There are numerous application possibilities for the new POG DOEs (e.g., in industrial image processing and medical technology). The fast-growing field of 3D time-of-flight measurements represents an important market as well. This technology is used in many industries. The automotive industry, laser cartography, robotics, and household appliances are just a few examples.
