What are the main use cases for the receiver?
Typical use cases are THz detection or spectroscopic applications in FTIR instruments. But we also see more exotic use cases like laser power measurements, where it is nice to have a pyro electric element for detection that integrates the measured power even for very fast lasers without complex effects that quantum devices usually create.
What are the dimensions of the FLEXPOINT® MVmicro laser module?
The housing of the compact MVmicro line laser with MV12 thread measures 90 mm in length and 19 mm in diameter.
What are the allowable operating conditions for the Differential Pyroelectric Detectors?
The detectors do not require cooling but should be maintained within an operating temperature range of -20 to +55 °C. It is crucial to keep the detectors in non-condensing environments, as some IR transmitting windows like KBr and CsI are hygroscopic and should not be exposed to high humidity.

The various focus options ensure that the MVmicro achieves the right combination of line thickness and depth of field for every wavelength.
The factory-set focus is optimized for the working distance defined by the customer. This approach is ideal for easy integration into series production. If the focusing mechanism is selected, the FLEXPOINT® MVmicro laser module can be easily and quickly adjusted by hand to different distances for optimal results without the need for additional tools.
What are the advantages of the DD3151X compared to typical pyroelectric detectors
The detector is designed to eliminate electromagnetic interference (EMI) and significantly improve signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). With its patented differential connection method, the DD31 boosts SNR by 1.4 times, ensuring cleaner, more accurate signal output in noisy environments, such as those affected by processor clocks and line interference. Ultimately, the dual-output signals can be easily combined via subtraction, doubling the final output while minimizing noise.
What are the advantages of ALT / ALUT detectors compared to other IR detectors?
There are several advantages. As mentioned above these detectors do not require temperature stabilization or cooling. Additionally, the LTO based pyroelectric element has a high Curie temperature of about 610 °C and does not de-pole under high IR flux. The detectors have demonstrated excellent linearity in qualification tests with high optical power FTIRs; the linearity of the detector response under changing IR illumination is a key requirement for accuracy of the Fourier Transform mathematical operation. The ALT / ALUT detectors have large active detection areas compared to some quantum detectors that use immersion lenses.

How does the receiver compare against MCT detectors?
MCT detectors are much faster, that is clear. The receiver however goes well beyond 12 µm, opening completely new fields of applications. It operates at more than 50°C ambient temperatures, which is very difficult with MCT detectors. Although the operating temperatures of MCT detectors often is marked as +70°C, but the important information what happens to the shunt resistance at such temperatures is missing. The PR N°1 still works at these temperatures like at any other room temperature. Another advantage is the linearity over four decades. MCT detectors typically are linear only over 2 decades.
How does the pulsed FLEXPOINT® MVpulseHP laser module work?
The laser beam is emitted in pulses that are controlled by a microcontroller. The pulse length and duty cycle are preset at the factory. This prevents the laser diode from overheating and enables stable performance without active cooling.
How does the FLEXPOINT® MVpulseHP support image processing in demanding environments?
The combination of high light intensity and compact design enables shorter exposure times and higher resolution in image processing and fits into (almost) any system. This improves throughput and the quality of inspection results, especially in outdoor applications.
How do high-power fiber cables work?
There are three technologies that help these cables deliver their exceptional results:
- ModeStrip Technology makes sure that disturbing and dangerous cladding waves are filtered out. It increases the life span of a fiber and prevent it from burning.
- A heat sink made of stainless steel or copper collects heat from the fiber and dissipates it into the surrounding air. This helps the cables deliver powers up to 130 W.
- In the active version, a water-cooling jacket is situated around the cooling element. Each hour, 30 liters of distilled water flow around the cooling element and add additional cooling potential to allow laser powers of 200 W and more depending on the fiber diameter.
For which applications is the FLEXPOINT® MVpulseHP suitable?
This module is particularly well suited for outdoor applications in industrial image processing, such as the inspection of railroad tracks, roads, and train wheels. In the wood industry, laser modules with an output of 300-500 mW at 660 nm and 808 nm also help increase efficiency. Higher light intensities and higher output powers are used in the steel industry as well.
For which applications is the FLEXPOINT® MVgoldHP laser module particularly suitable?
It is particularly suitable for industrial inspections under extreme conditions, for example when inspecting steel or scanning hot materials or maintaining rails and roads.
For which applications is the FLEXPOINT® MV12 laser module suitable?
