Metal-coated Fibers

Extremely robust, temperature-stable, and chemically resistant

These fibers offer high reliability, robust construction, and broad IR coverage. They deliver stable performance even under demanding conditions and are ideal for industrial and sensor applications.

These special fibers are designed for reliable use in demanding environmental conditions. They offer high mechanical stability, resist temperature fluctuations, moisture, and stress, and ensure consistent signal transmission. Their wide infrared transmission range makes them suitable for industrial sensor technology, laser and energy applications, and measurement and monitoring systems. Their robust design enables durable and precise solutions for demanding technical applications.

Metal-coated Fibers

Metal-coated Fibers - Aluminum-coated Silica Fibers

High-strength, temperature-stable fiber for extreme environments

Aluminum-coated Silica Fibers

Aluminum Coated Silica Fibers

Aluminum-coated silica fibers combine the outstanding properties of silica fibers with increased mechanical strength and excellent fatigue resistance. They can withstand temperatures from –270°F to 400°F, are suitable for vacuum applications, and remain reliable even at 100% humidity. This makes them the ideal solution for demanding applications.

Depending on the fiber core, the transmission range extends from UV (220 nm) to near infrared (2400 nm). This makes AlSilica fibers particularly suitable for high-temperature applications and environments where they are exposed to aggressive chemicals or radioactive radiation—for example, borehole measurements, high-power lasers, or medical devices.

Features

  • Operating temperature up to 400 °C
  • Excellent mechanical strength and flexibility
  • No outgassing under high vacuum conditions
  • Solderable in connectors (epoxy-free option)
  • Effective heat dissipation along the metal coating
  • Sterilizable by steam, ETO, electron beam, or gamma radiation

Metal-coated Fibers - Silica Fibers with Cu alloy

Copper-coated, extremely robust, and heat-resistant

Copper-alloy Coated Silica Fibers

Silica fibers coated with a copper alloy deliver maximum performance even under extreme operating conditions. They combine the proven robustness of silica-silica fibers with significantly higher mechanical strength than polymer-coated alternatives. Temperatures ranging from –270 °C to 400 °C and 100% humidity are no problem. They are also particularly resistant to material fatigue. The wide transmission range (220–2400 nm) makes these fibers very versatile. Among other things, they are ideal for high-temperature and chemical environments, nuclear technology, oil and gas drilling, high-power lasers, medicine, and soldered fiber bundles.

Features

  • Operating temperatures up to 600 °C
  • Excellent mechanical strength and flexibility
  • No outgassing under high vacuum conditions
  • Solderable in connectors (epoxy-free option)
  • Effective heat dissipation along the metal coating
  • Sterilizable by steam, ETO, E-beam, or gamma radiation
