Reliable Analog Light Sensing LDRs

NSL series for high stability and precision sensing

The NSL series of CdS-based photoresistors from Advanced Photonix offer reliable, analog light sensing with a human-eye-like response. Comprised of components in hermetically sealed TO-cans or plastic-coated ceramic headers, this series ensures stability, durability, and design flexibility in precision light control, industrial sensing, and audio or display applications.

NSL Series CdS-Photoresistors with Durable Casings

The NSL series comprises of high-performance Cadmium Sulfide (CdS) light-dependent resistors designed for precise analog light sensing. These LDRs respond to visible light (400–700 nm), with a spectral peak around 550 nm, closely matching the sensitivity of the human eye. Resistance decreases as light intensity increases, which makes it ideal for ambient light monitoring and automatic light control.

Packaging Options

NSL photoresistors are available in two configurations: a hermetically sealed TO-can package for high-reliability environments and a two-pin plastic-coated ceramic header for cost-sensitive or compact applications. Both versions provide excellent durability, moisture resistance, and stable electrical characteristics over time.

Performance and Applications

Depending on the model, the typical dark resistance ranges from 0.5 MΩ to over 10 MΩ with light resistance dropping significantly under illumination. This makes NSL LDRs suitable for applications such as audio compression, industrial light sensors, display dimming, and optical switching, where analog light-level control is essential.
