As a spin-off of the Jena Institute for Joining Technology and Materials Testing, ifw optronics GmbH looks back on decades of experience in the manufacture of optoelectronic components. The company is well networked with science and industry in the optics cluster of the "City of Light". ifw Optronics products are also known far beyond the city limits and are now used all over the world - since 2012 even on Mars.

A core segment of ifw Optronics are SiC photodiodes for UV detection. The company no only relies on its extensive know-how, but also strives for continuous improvement of its own products - from the in-house development of semiconductor chips and precise sensor electronics to UV-proven assembly and interconnection technologies. In addition to over 100 different standard SiC components, individual adaptations according to customer specifications are also possible.
