Sapphire Fibers

The melting point of sapphire is above 2,000°C. In addition, this material is almost chemically neutral. For this reason, sapphire fibers are the best choice for use in aggressive environments. They are used, for example, in processing plants to monitor chemical reactions.

Sapphire Fibers

Monocrystalline fibers for use in Er:YAG laser transmission and chemically aggressive environments.

Sapphire is almost chemically neutral. Its melting point is above 2,000°C. These properties make crystals the preferred material for fibers used in chemically aggressive environments. It is also ideally suited for the transmission of Er:YAG lasers.

We supply sapphire fibers that have been grown from a single crystal using the edge-defined film-fed growth (EFG) process. This process retains the outstanding material properties of sapphire. At the same time, the fiber still offers the desired flexibility. The fibers are available in lengths of up to 2 m and with diameters of 100, 250, 325, and 425 μm.
