IR Laser Optics

For lasers with infrared wavelengths, such as, for example, 10.6 µm in CO2 lasers, lenses and windows made of zinc selenide (ZnSe) are used. Silicon or copper mirrors are used as mirrors. Phase shift mirrors used to produce circular polarization are also available. Beam expanders and diffractive elements for beam shapes complete our product range.

ZnSe Windows for CO2 lasers

Used as final element or protective window

As for the lenses only high-quality substrates are used for the windows.

ZnSe windows (Type WNZ) are used as end elements or protective windows. Similar to cutting lenses, they are made exclusively with high quality "laser grade" material.

In addition to standard AR coatings for 10.6 µm, special coatings such as broadband ARs or dual-band ARs are available.

General Specifications

  • Diameter tolerance: +0/- 0.2 mm
  • Thickness tolerance: ±0.25 mm
  • Wedge: <3 arc min
  • Surface figure: typ. λ/20 at 10.6 µm (depending on diameter/thickness ratio)
  • Clear Aperture: >85 % of diameter

Further specifications can be found on the data sheet.

Brewster windows are used in polarization separation. If WBZ windows are installed below the Brewster angle (q= 67.4° for ZnSe), the p component is fully transmitted and approximately 50% of the s component is reflected per side. When using EWBZ windows, a special coating is applied to the front side of the window, which ensures that the reflection for s-pol is increased to >98%.

General Specifications

  • Diameter tolerance: +0/- 0.2 mm
  • Thickness tolerance: ±0.25 mm
  • Wedge: <3 arc min, or on request 2.0±1.0 arc min.
  • Surface figure: typ. λ/20 at 10.6 µm (depending on diameter/thickness ratio)
  • Clear Aperture: >85 % of diameter

Further specifications can be found on the data sheet.
