Tunable OTDR Device for the C-Band

Due to its high transmission rates, xWDM technology is becoming increasingly popular in the access networks of broadband services. Viavi’s 4100 series DWDM OTDRs offer for the first time the possibility of mobile maintenance and troubleshooting these networks during operation. With the integrated tunable laser, the user can use any channel in the C-band between 1527.99 nm (C62) and 1567.95 nm (C12) for measurement without disturbing normal operation. The channel spacing can be 50, 100, or 200 GHz.

The integrated continuous wave light source ensures end-to-end continuity through all multiplexers.
The comprehensive event diagnosis provides all relevant values to quickly eliminate the disturbance. In addition, the measurement results are evaluated according to all applicable international standards and then displayed in a pass/fail table.
