Partially Reflecting Optics for CO2 lasers

Output couplers and beam splitters have a special coating to reflect a defined percentage of the incident light.

Output couplers and beam splitters have a special coating to reflect a defined percentage of the incident light and transmit the remaining part. The reverse side is generally AR coated at 10.6 µm.

  • Diameter: + 0.0 mm; - 0.2 mm
  • Thickness: ± 0.25 mm
  • Wedge: < 3 arc min
  • Surface figure: typ. λ /20 at 10.6 µm (depending on diameter/thickness ratio)
  • Surface quality: 40-20 per MIL-O-1380A
  • Clear aperture: 85 % of diameter
  • Laser damage threshold: depending on beam diameter, typ. 3000 W/mm (CW CO2 laser)
    (3 kW per mm of beam diameter 1/e²)

Output Couplers/Partial Reflectors (Type PZ):

Output couplers are available in both planar and curved form.

  • Angle of incidence: 0°
  • Reflectivity tolerance: Data upon request

Beam Splitter (Type BSZ):

Beam splitters are typically used at an angle of 45° and optimized for each polarization.

  • Angle of incidence: 45°
  • Reflectivity tolerance: Data upon request
  • Polarization independent beam splitters are available.

Beam Combiners (Type BCZ):

Beam combiners are used at an angle of 45° to add pilot beams to the beam path. They offer a maximum reflection for typical wavelengths in the visible range and simultaneously a maximum transmission at 10.6 µm.
