LASER COMPONENTS will showcase the importance of photodiodes in modern defense technology at the EPIC Technology Meeting on Photonics for Defense: Securing the Future, taking place March 11–12, 2026. Our colleague Pierre Chazan has prepared a presentation for the session »Laser Technologies for Precision and Protection.«

The event will be held at the premises of our partner Exosens in Toulouse, where experts from the aerospace and defense sectors will connect with representatives from the photonics industry.

Avalanche Photodiodes
Similar to photomultipliers, avalanche photodiodes are used to detect extremely weak light intensities. Si APDs are used in the wavelength range from 250 to 1100 nm, and InGaAs is used as semiconductor material in APDs for the wavelength range from 1100 to 1700 nm.
